Join us for a tour of this historic site and discover more about the history and fascinating stories that surround the unique engineering works. Your tour guide will meet you in Spooner’s bar/café at Harbour Station, Porthmadog, before you embark on a short train ride to Boston Lodge Works. The experience will last for approximately 2 hours.

How Steam Locomotives Work

Cost: £27.00 per adult.

May 10th, 29th, 31st. June 1st, 14th. July 26th. August 2nd, 9th, 10th, 16th, 23rd, 30th.

This is a short, practical workshop lasting approximately 3 hours, where participants get to help prepare a loco, see it in action close up, receive information on ‘how it works’ then have a go at firing and driving in the yard. These are all based at Boston Lodge.

Come and find about the major works at Boston Lodge including restoration works on listed buildings and new buildings.  It is also an opportunity to find out more about the range of highly skilled work that happens on site on a daily basis.

This is a practical workshop where we will be revealing and recording the remains of the stables in front of 1&2 Boston Lodge ahead of groundworks in that area.
